Ina Elizabeth Julian

( July 17, 1916 – May 21, 2017 )

Ina Elizabeth Johnson Julian, 100 passed away May 21, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri.  Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton, Missouri.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri.  The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association and may be left in care of the funeral home.  Fond memories and condolences can be left online at www.vansant-millsfuneralhome.com.

Ina was born in St. Clair County on July 17, 1916 to Marvin and Pearl Hopkins Johnson.  Ina had 4 brothers and 3 sisters that all preceded her in death.  She was the last of her family.  She spent her final school days in the Calhoun School System and enjoyed her years there.  Ina met Estell (Eck) Julian at a Fox Hunt.  They were married 65 years and had 5 children.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter Joyce Laverne, Son Richard Elvin, Grandson Larry Gene Miller, Jr., infant Grandson Michael E. Julian, Jr., and Husband Estell.

Ina is survived by Daughter Wanda Jean Hedges of Raymore, MO, Daughter Carol Miller and husband Larry, Sr. of Clinton, MO, Son Michael Earl Julian and wife Barbara of Calhoun, MO:  15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren and 1 great great great grandson.

Ina went to work in 1951 at the Lake City Arsenal in Independence.  Her next job was at Westinghouse Jet Engine Plant in K.C.  She went to work in 1960 at Western Electric where she retired in 1981 after almost 21 years of service.

Ina belonged to the Calhoun Methodist Church, The Udolpha Miller Dormin D.A.R., The Telephone Pioneers of America, The Communication Workers Union, Local 6360, The Henry County Democrat Club, The National Hinkle Society, and The Indiana Pioneer Society in Randolph County, Indiana.  She  moved her Church membership to the Clinton Methodist Church.

Ina has done a wonderful service for all of our extended families by compiling over 11 different family history and genealogy notebooks.

In her 100 years of life Ina has gone from moving across Kansas in a covered wagon to driving around town as late as a week ago in her Candy Apple Red Mercury Cougar.

Ina was a loving Mother, Grandmother and great friend to everyone.  She was always active and on the go.  We all will miss her and her smile and laughing ways.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, Missouri.
