6/19-Edward Vought

Edward LaRue Vought, 83, of Windsor, Mo., died late Tuesday evening, June 14, 2017 at the Olathe Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas.
 
He was born July 30, 1933, in Catawissa, Pennsylvania, the son of George and Ruth (Mausteller) Vought. On December 11, 1954 in Galveston, Texas, he married Helen Virginia Fair Vought and she survives of the home. They have two children, Edward and Sandra.
Ed served his country for 21 years as a Master Navigator in the United States Air Force retiring at the rank of Lt. Colonel and flew more than 100 combat missions during his service. Ed and Helen grew to love Windsor while he was stationed at Whiteman AFB with the 509th Bomb Wing from 1959-1963. He completed his military career in June of 1973. After his military service he purchased a farm and “retired” to the livestock and grain farm from 1973 until 1993. In 1993, with the kids gone, he and Helen moved to the Lake of the Ozarks area for a few years before ultimate being drawn back to Windsor.
Ed was a member of the Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years and most recently, a member of the Blue Lodge in Windsor where he previously served as Master. He was also a member of Ararat Shrine and Past Worthy Patron of Order of the Eastern Star. He was a member of the American Legion Post #28 as well as the Windsor VFW Post #2610. He was a long-time member of the Windsor United Methodist Church. In addition, he was one of the founding board members of the Henry County Health Center and also served on the boards of the former Windsor Hospital and MFA Farmers Cooperative, as well as in the Henry County Extension Council. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, woodworking, fishing, and he loved playing cards and games with family and friends.
In addition to his wife Helen, survivors include a son Edward R. Vought (Tracy), Columbia, Mo., a daughter Sandra K. Cook (Michael), Overland Park, Ks.; 5 grandchildren, Dr. Melissa Boldan (Tyson), Adrienne Trainor (Andrew), James Spencer (Erin), Kyle Beets and Steven Beets; 4 great-grandchildren, Logan, Sterling, and Finlay Boldan and Liam Spencer; 4 brothers, Elmer Paul Vought, John Vought, Tom Vought, and Earl Vought; 3 sisters, Hazel Bennett, Audrey Clifton, and Rose Rieggs; a sister-in-law Elizabeth Melton and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant son Steven George Vought; 2 brothers, Robert Vought and Larry Vought; a sister, Gloria Dambrosio; and a sister-in-law Carol Hunter.
 
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, June 21, 2017, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, Mo., with Rev. Pete Hill officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends before the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
