10/26-Barbara Walden

Barbara M. Walden, 82, of Sedalia, Missouri, formerly of Warsaw, Mo., and Windsor, Mo., died late Tuesday evening, October 24, 2017, at Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City.

 

She was born May 9, 1935, in Benton County, Missouri the daughter of Phillip Earl Stevens and Lena Swearngin Stevens. On September 8, 1951, in Raytown, Mo., she married Edwin John Walden and he preceded her in death on March 4, 2016.

 

Barbara was a loving mother to her five children, staying at home with them while they were young. After they were grown, she worked in housekeeping at the former Windsor Resthaven and with the Whiteman Air Force Base 509th Medical Group. She attended the Assembly of God of Windsor and then the Assembly of God Church in Warsaw after she and her husband moved to Warsaw. While living in Windsor, she was active in the Windsor Historical Society. She enjoyed crafts, researching family genealogy, and garage sale outings.

 

Survivors include 4 children, Carol Homan (Steven), Sedalia, Mo.; Andrew Walden (Pam), Richmond, Mo.; Robert Walden, Warsaw, Mo.; and Susan Thurston (Jonathan), Warrensburg, Mo.; 12 grandchildren,  Carey J. Walden (Tracy), Grandview, Mo.; Matthew Walden (Tiffany), Clinton, Mo.; Amy Younce (Mark), Knob Noster, Mo.; Chad Cronhardt (Shelly), Clinton, Mo.; Stephen Walden (Jessica), McKinney, Tx.; Andrea Dellerba (Steve), Denver, Co.; Aaron Walden (Heather), Hardin, Mo.; Autumn Avis, Camdenton, Mo.; Samantha Renfro (Justin), Warrensburg, Mo.; Kelly Walden, Cape Fair, Mo.; Brandon Walden, LaMonte, Mo.; and Tiah Thurston, Warrensburg, Mo.; 24 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Carey Walden; a granddaughter, Kristen Veach; and 2 brothers, Wilbur Stevens and Truman Stevens.

 

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 27, 2017, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, Mo., with Rev. Gene Ekstrand officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association and contributions may be left in care of the funeral home.
