Edward Strope

VISITATION/PRAYER SERVICE will be Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montrose, Missouri with Prayer Service at 6:00 with Visitation to follow, until 8:00 p.m.
INTERMENT will be to St. Mary’s Cemetery, Montrose, Missouri

Edward Bernard Strope, the son of Leo and Cecilia (Wankum) Strope, born April 21, 1936, passed away peacefully at Westwood Living Center in Clinton, Missouri on January 8, 2018. He attended St. Mary’s School through the eighth grade. After completing his education he began helping his family on the farm east of Montrose. During this time he was drafted into the United States Army from 1959-1961, where he served his country proudly. Upon his return he married Helena Goth on June, 10 1961, his wife of 56 years. To this union, two children were born: Terry and Cindy.
Edward spent all of his life farming and was an incredibly hard worker. Many of his leisure hours were spent teaching his children, then later grandchildren how to take care of as well as manage a farm. One of Edward’s favorite hobbies was playing cards, especially Pitch. He was a very mild mannered and kindhearted person, who remained devoted to his family and spent countless happy hours with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Cecilia (Wankum) Strope; four brothers: Victor (Eileen), Vincent (Rita), Cecil, Richard (Joan), and one sister, Bernadine (Ed) Murray.
He is survived by his wife Helena of the home; one son, Terry (Brenda) Strope, and one daughter Cindy (Greg) Born; grandchildren: Samantha Born, Katie (Chance) Hearting, Zachary Born, Rachel Strope, and Bethany Strope; great-grandchildren: Hope, Hailey, Hunter, Hattie, and Hudson Hearting; sisters: Marie (Duane) Mason, of Frankfort South Dakota, and Joan (Glenn) Parks of Independence, Missouri.
