Lila Harbit, 72, of Windsor, Missouri, died Sunday morning, February 18, 2018, at her home in Windsor.
She was born June 13, 1945, in Kansas City, Kansas in the Argentine neighborhood, the daughter of Ruben Robert Alderman and Evelyn Fern (Tribble) Alderman. On September 13, 1973 she married Hollis Franklin Harbit at the First Christian Church, Windsor. He survives of the home.
Lila was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her three children, Billy Joe, Penny, and Larry. She was a Sunday School teacher in the preschool department of the former Emmanuel Baptist Church in Kansas City, Ks. She enjoyed reading, crochet, and counted cross-stitch needlework.
In addition to her husband, Hollis, she is survived by three children Billy Joe Curtis (Tammy Jean), Independence, Mo.; Penny Jones, Fort Scott, Ks.; and Larry Curtis, Independence, Mo.; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren on the way; a former son-in-law, Kenneth Gilmore; 8 brothers and sisters, Betty Collins, Kansas City, Mo.; Bob Alderman, Kansas City, Ks.; Carlie Prettyman, Raytown, Mo.; Larry Alderman, Kansas City, Ks; Stephanie Elliott, Bronson, Ks.; Douglas Tribble, Bronson, Ks.; Cindy McDowell, Fort Scott, Ks.; and Brian Tribble, Kansas City, Ks; 2 aunts, Sally Anderson and Saloma Holter; an uncle, John Wells; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Agnes Yates, and a brother Stevie Tribble.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2018, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Rev. David Mills officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends before the service from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the First Christian Church or Heartland Hospice in care of the funeral home.
