Evelyn Lillian Avery
( November 14, 1952 – March 03, 2018 )
Evelyn Lillian Avery, 65, of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Bakersfield and Los Angeles, California, died Saturday, March 03, 2018, in her home in Mesa, Arizona. Fond memories and condolences may be left online at www.vansant-millsfuneralhome.com.
She was born November 14, 1952, in Clinton, Missouri, the daughter of Charles Phillip Brown and Evelyn Elnora Brown. On November 22, 1971, she married Larry Marvin Avery Sr., who resides in Los Angeles, California.
Evelyn, best known to everyone as “Lille” to many of her friends and family, was always with you (right or wrong) if she really loved you. She believed the best in people and loved to see them happy. It would especially make her happy after she would make one of her special dishes like her mac n’ cheese, or her famous pineapple upside down cake, or you knew she really loved you if she made you her 7-layer dip. She was always known for bringing one of those dishes to work when she was working or to her lovely dialysis staff. Cooking and decorating her home was her first passion and it made her smile when she saw just how much you enjoyed it. Her second passion was the casinos and boy did she come alive particularly by playing her slots. She loved to travel and found that being on anybody’s ship was truly living.
Evelyn (Lillie) is survived by four siblings, Charles Brown (Linda), Sterling Brown, Julia Frazier, and Rebecca Brown. Her children were her most pride and joy and loved them unconditionally. She is survived by three children, Rossetta Elaine Avery, Larry Marvin Avery, Jr., (Latrice), Corona, California and Michael Brian Avery (Holly), Mesa, Arizona. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren (who loved to call her “Grams”), nieces, and nephews, and great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Shirley Mae “Mac” Brown her brothers Glen Brown (Braetta), and Theodore “Teddy” Sweets (Joan), and her loving parents Charles and Eva Brown.
And, the memory of you is a lasting imprint in our minds. Until we see you again Grams. We love you and miss you, Mom.
Grave site service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Antioch Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri. The family will receive friends after the service.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton.
