Almyrta Faye Long, age 80, Raymore, Missouri died,November 25, 2015 at Truman Lake Manor, Lowry City, Missouri. A memorial service will be held 10:00 am Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Clinton United Methodist Church in Clinton, Missouri.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri.Funeral services have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri.

She was born March 10, 1935 on a farm south of Urich, Missouri. She was the youngest child and only daughter of Uel Elmer Long and Mary Angeline (Hull) Long. She attended Willow Branch grade school and was a 1953 graduate of Clinton High School, Clinton, Missouri. She attended night school and graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree from Junior College, Kansas City, Missouri in 1961. She also graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Degree from Rockhurst College, Kansas City, Missouri in 1976 also attending night school. During this time, she was employed with American Telephone and Telegraph Co. and was an Engineering Associate at the time of her retirement in 1987 with 32 years of service. She was a member of the U.S. Naval Reserve with 20 years of service and retired as a Yeoman First Class in 1985. She earned the Naval Meritorious Awards and Armed Forced Awards. She was a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church of Raymore, Missouri and the Kindred Spirits. She was a member of the National Society of Daughters of American Revolution and the Mary Sibley Chapter (DAR), also the Veteran’s Club of the DAR. She was a member of the WAVES National and Heart of America Unit #9 of Kansas City. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and Communications Workers of America. She was a member of the Heritage Society of Rockhurst University.
Her hobbies were genealogy, music, reading and attending her flowers and pets. She traveled extensively both seeking genealogy and researching her ancestors and recording it to be preserved for future generations. She also enjoyed traveling abroad and made many trips to Europe and Canada, taking pictures and seeking historical sites. She was blessed with her pet dogs and enjoyed the companionship of her beloved pets, Muffi, Peppi, Laddi, and Blacki. Growing up on a farm instilled her love of animals.
She leaves 2 brothers, Robert Gene Long, Clinton, Missouri and Kenneth Dale Long, Springfield, Missouri, 2 nieces, Kathy Sue Himes, Clinton, Missouri and Linda Ann Wallace, St. Charles, Missouri, 1 nephew Kenneth Lee Long, Lafayette, Louisiana, also 2 great nieces and 4 great nephews, 2 great great nephews and 1 great great niece.
