U.S. VeteranFranklin Goslin, 86, lifelong Clinton resident and businessman, died peacefully in his sleep, at his home on Thursday November 26, 2015. Private family graveside services will be Friday, December 4th, 2015, 11 am at Vansant Road Cemetery. A celebration of life visitation will be held in his honor at the Clinton Elks Lodge on Friday December 4th, 2015 from 4-6 pm. Memorial contributions in Franklin’s honor can be made to the Clinton Elks building fund in care of the funeral home.

Born March 4, 1929 to Henry and Laura Goslin, he graduated from Clinton High School in 1949 and married Gertrude Wooster October 8, 1949. To this Union was born 2 daughters, Tricia and Pam. He worked in the Goslin family business which dealt in Case tractors, Pontiac and GMC, and boats and Evinrude motors, all of his life and was a proud and respected businessman. He never missed an opportunity to help someone with repairs in his workshop “Grandpa’s Toy Box”. In the last several years he so enjoyed being a “delivery man” for his daughter’s business Bloomers Flower Shop in Clinton.

During their marriage they enjoyed, fishing, hunting, camping and winter trips to Texas. He was preceded in death by Gertrude, his wife of 64 years,and two brothers Harold and Jim. He is survived by his brother Donald Goslin, Clinton, his daughters, Tricia Burton of Springfield, Mo and Pam Hargrave and husband Dean, of Clinton, grandson Brent Burton and wife Laura of Springfield, granddaughter Jessica Jones and husband Tony of Kansas City, his “pride and joy” great grandchildren, Genevieve Mae and Archer Wesley Burton and Isaac Clancy and Elias Franklin Jones. He also leaves behind numerous family and friends.

He always considered himself a ” jack of all trades but master of none”. He served in the National Guard for 12 years, was a Henry County sheriff deputy, retired fire captain with the Clinton Fire Department, was a charter member of the Good Sams Camping Club, Clinton Eagles and honorary life member and past exalted ruler of the Clinton Elks Lodge.
