Veteran Fire Fighter of 28 years Daniel D. Rapp, the only son of 30 years Ret. Capt. Duwayne and Iola Rapp, entered into eternal rest on December 16, 2015. He was born in Appleton City, Missouri February 21, 1959 and also graduated from Appleton City High School in 1977.
Danny was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church April 12, 1959 and confirmed May 21, 1972, where he continued to attend all of his life. His deeds as an Air Force Veteran and fire fighter defined the word courage throughout his many years of service. Numerous individuals owe their lives and the preservation of their property to the prompt action of this heroic fireman.
Yet those that knew him well will always remember the tender hearted father, uncle, and friend that loudly whistled and whose personality lit up everywhere he went. Never knowing a stranger, Danny helped out anyone, anywhere, anytime, and regularly offered his “two-cents” concerning anything to people in the community as he rode his bicycle around town. His family remembers fondly his warm, thunderous greetings and bear-hugs, usually accompanied by a tushie tickle. Without question, however, Danny’s most cherished times were spent with relatives and friends relaxing on Duwayne’s pit with a fishing pole in his hand and a red handkerchief on his head.
Survivors include his two sons, Dalton Rapp and Tanner Phillips; his parents, Duwayne Rapp (Winnie) and Iola (Kreissler) Rapp; his two sisters, Jennifer (Scott) Heiman and Jina (Bill) Hill; one grandson Tyson Phillips; one uncle 30 year Ret. Capt. Dennis (Ruby) Rapp; Nephew 8 years Fire Fighter Nick (Becky) Hill; cousin 19 years Fire Fighter Brian (Valarie) Rapp; step-nephew Cadet Fireman Landon Green; his pride and joy were his great nieces and nephews: Raeah, Raeleigh, Renner, Bryson, Hillsleigh, Landry and Sullivan; nieces and nephews Tiffany, Toby, Abby, Andrew, Brice, Heidi, Maggie, and Andres; and stepsisters and step brothers: Angela, Melanie, Tammy, Lance, and Justin.
