3/4-Dennis Powell(update)

Dennis (Denny) R. Powell, age 65 years, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at his home in Clinton, Missouri. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton. Denny was born Nov. 29, 1950 in Topeka, Kansas to Richard and Patricia Powell. He worked for Russell Brothers Clothing Store and Fashion Boot in Clinton. In 1978, he was united in marriage to Loretta Minich. To their union, two sons, Zachary and Jeremy, were born. He began work at Kanas City Power and Light in 1977 as a welder. He retired from the company after 23 years of service in 2000.

Denny had many hobbies he enjoyed with family and friends. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting, gardening and canning the fruits of his labor. He enjoyed playing cards with his very good friend, Gary Sapp. He had a passion for smoking meats for family, friends and many special occasions. He loved his grandchildren dearly and enjoyed being a big part of their lives.

He was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Patricia Powell.

He is survived by his former spouse and best friend, Loretta Powell, sons Zachary (Melissa) Powell, and Jeremy (Leslie) Powell, and his grandchildren; Carson Powell, Gage Powell, Leah Powell and Lana Powell, all of Clinton. He is also survived by his brother Timothy (Peggy) Powell and niece, Lora Miles.

The family will arrange a private gathering at a later date.
