George Robert “Bob” Nichols

George Robert “Bob” Nichols, 78, of Sedalia, Missouri, formerly of Windsor, Mo., died Thursday, March 10, 2016, at the Fairview Nursing Home in Sedalia.

He was born August 10, 1937, in Brownington, Mo., the son of George Henry Nichols and Violet Opal (Dodson) Nichols. On July 5, 1957, at the Shady Grove Baptist Church, near Rackett, Mo., he married Jean (Galloway) Nichols, and she preceded him in death on December 1, 2007.

Mr. Nichols graduated from Clinton High School, Clinton, Mo., in 1955. He had worked at the former Windsor International Shoe Factory for 26 years and when it closed, he went to work at Waterloo Industries, Sedalia for 16 years, retiring in 1999. Bob enjoyed fishing and gardening throughout his life, and he loved watching all the grandchildren play ball every summer. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Windsor, for many years.

Survivors include a daughter, Carrie Joseph and husband, Larry, Desloge, Mo.; 2 sons, Randy Nichols and wife Delilah, Sedalia, Mo.; Robert Nichols and wife LeAnne, Windsor, Mo.; 6 grandchildren, Rachel Jones, Dana Joseph, Brett Joseph, Josh Nichols, Drew Nichols, and Callie Nichols; 4 great-grandchildren, Laney Pace, Tinlee Jones, Phillip Jones and Tate Joseph. Along with his parents, and wife, Jean, he was preceded in death by a brother, Hershel Nichols.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 13, 2016, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, Mo., with Dr. Glenn Sparks officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., before the service at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to Crossroads Hospice or to the ALS Association and may be left in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be left online at www.hadleyfuneralhome.com.
