Betty Hampton, 84, of Windsor, Missouri, died Saturday afternoon, April 2, 2016, at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital, Clinton, Mo.
She was born January 12, 1932, in Green Ridge, Mo., the daughter of Howard Milo Burton and Minnie Dee (Kirby) Burton. On December 24, 1949, in Windsor, Mo., she married William Lee “Bill” Hampton. He preceded her in death on February 6, 1995.
Betty was a homemaker and was a baby-sitter. She worked at the Resthaven Nursing Home in Windsor for several years as the activities director. She was a talented seamstress and quilter and also decorated cakes. In her spare time, she liked to read, especially the Bible. She was active in the Calvary Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for a number of years.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Peggy Hampton, Clinton, Mo.; Debbie Bowers (Dennis), Windsor, Mo.; Kimberley Zimmer (John), Indiana; 5 grandsons, Chris, Brent, Aaron, Caleb, and Alex; a granddaughter, Abby; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Bill, she was preceded in death by an infant son.
Graveside funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at the Green Ridge Cemetery, Green Ridge, Mo., with Rev. John Barrett officiating. Friends may call Monday from noon until 8:00 p.m. at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. The family suggest contributions to the Salvation Army in care of the funeral home.
