Ward Weir Attebery
( August 06, 1938 – February 03, 2017 )
Ward Weir Attebery was born to Joan Weir and Walter Ward Attebery, August 6, 1938 in Clinton, Missouri. He was a student at Raytown High School and joined the U.S.A.F. in 1955 doing his basic training at Lackland A.F.B., being trained as a Nuclear Weapons Mechanic and he served duty in Arkansas.
Ward married Georgia Yates at Unity Village on September 7, 1957. Ward leaves his wife of 59 years; daughter, Kelley Bregel and husand Tom, Lee’s Summit; son, Bill Attebery, Platte City; son, James Attebery, Kansas City, Missouri; brother Paul Woodson and wife Sandy, North Kansas City, Missouri; and brother Michael Yates, Arkansas; grandsons, Christopher Bregel, New York City, and Michael Attebery, Odessa; and many nieces and nephews.
Ward was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Attebery; brother Robert Yates; and a nephew Brian Attebery.
Ward loved his farm, especially his cattle. When health issues continued to fail, he had to leave the cattle to the younger ones and concentrated on building a home. As his health continued to change, he met each challenge with determination and courage. No matter what the weather, when he woke he would always say, “It’s a beautiful day.”
So many cared for Ward; Kansas City Kidney Associates and the wonderful special staff at Belton Dialysis Clinic, and Dr. Chris Geha, who cared for Ward for so many years. Thank you to all. Special family friends, Teresa Hills, Pat Forsythe, Cheryl Roudebush, and Lavonne Sutton. Friends always there to support and help no matter what his needs and whenever called upon.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, of Clinton, Missouri.
