Carolyn “Jeannie” Cooper, age 71 years, passed away Friday, January 22, 2016 at her home, Clinton, Missouri. Funeral services will be Monday January 25, 2016 at 2 pm with visitation 1 hour prior to service at Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton. Interment will follow in Hopewell Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri. Family suggests memorial contributions be made to the National Kidney Association and may be left in care of the funeral home. Carolyn was born to Howard and Mildred (Lippa) Anders December 7, 1944, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was known to everyone as “Jeannie”. Jeannie married Jackie Cooper and their union blessed them with three beautiful children. Jeannie loved to cook, and she shared this love of cooking with many over the years as she was employed at Deluxe Café, Clinton Senior Center, and the Short Street Tavern. She was affectionately known by her Short Street patrons as “Mama Jean”. She also enjoyed gambling on the slot machines, playing cards (cheating at cards) and bird watching. Most of all Jeannie loved her grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-dad John Hendricks, her husband Jackie, and a grand-daughter Marya Cooper.

Among survivors are her children Jeff (Jeannette) Cooper of Clinton, Mo., Jenay (Duane)Rotert of Montrose, MO., and Jodi Cooper of Freeman, Mo. Also, five grandchildren; Nichole (Theron) Eye, Matthew Cooper, Makayla Cooper, Cassidy Cooper, and Ashlynn Hilte, three great-grandchildren; Danielle VanArtsdalen and Jax and Bryson Eye, also her step-mother Barb Anders of Schertz, TX., step-mother Carol Hendricks of Waterloo, NE. Seven siblings; John (Robyn) Hendricks, Cassville, MO., Diane McQueen, Clinton, MO., Cathy Harville, Bethel Springs, TN., Marty Allen, Bethel Springs, TN., Larry Anders, Schertz, TX., Terri Beck, Schertz, TX., and Karen McGee, Schertz, TX., Along with many nieces, nephews and other family.

Ellen Cooper, 73, of rural Windsor, Missouri died Friday morning, January 22, 2016, at her home.

She was born August 10, 1942, in Cub Run, Kentucky, the daughter of Jim Webb and Ollie Belle (West) Webb. She was the 10th of 12 children born to Jim and Ollie. On May 23, 1986, in Garland, Texas, she married Denzil Lee Cooper.

Ellen graduated from Louisville High School 1960 in Louisville, Ky. She had worked as a computer chip prototype specialist with Micro Pac. Ellen was a believer in the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee and the Hand and Foot card game. She also canned fruit in the summertime. Ellen was a loving and doting woman, always taking care of her husband and family. What she and Denzil shared was a special love which was an example of what God intended a marriage to be: two becoming one. She loved Denzil and fulfilled his life.

In addition to her husband, survivors include her sons Rodney and his wife Tammy of Mesquite, Tx.; Andrew and his wife Christie of Garland, Tx.; and Matthew and his wife Kara of Arlington, Tx.; and 7 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation was held 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening, January 25, 2016, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. Private burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. A memorial service will be held 10:30 am Friday, January 29, 2016 at the Clinton United Methodist Church. A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton, Missouri. Inurnment will be in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri. James was born October 15, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Clyde and Mary (Campbell) Crebbs. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Vietnam. James attended the Santa Rosa California Police Academy and served as the Deputy Sheriff of San Benito County, California. After moving to Clinton, he worked as a Police Officer, Patrolman, and D.A.R.E. instructor for the city of Clinton, where he later retired. James attended additional police training at Johnson County Community College, Galvin Community College, State Fair Community College, and Central Missouri State University. James was very active in his community. He was a past assistant Boy Scout leader of Troop 2 and also the assistant Girl Scout Leader and Cookie Service Director for Clinton. In addition, he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and a member of the V.F.W. Post #1894, of which he was a twice past White Hat Commander.

James was preceded in death by his daughter, Melinda Ellen Crebbs, who passed away in 2004, and his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Linda of the home; two children, Zachary Michael Crebbs (partner, Brandi Jones) of Springfield, Missouri and Laura E. Bilderback (Whitman) of Clinton, Missouri; five siblings, Robert E. Crebbs (Arlene) of La Palma, California, Elizabeth L. Fellers (Ed) of Overland Park, Kansas, Pamela S. Morton of Houston, Texas, Deborah E. Blanton of Jefferson City, Missouri, Melinda K. Miller of Liberty, Missouri; six grandchildren, James E. Lysinger, Jr. of Clinton, Missouri, Jenavieve E. Lysinger of Clinton, Missouri, Celes M. Crebbs of Kansas City, Missouri, Zandra M. Crebbs of Kansas City, Missouri, Serra E. Crebbs of Springfield, Missouri, and Julia A. Crebbs of Springfield, Missouri, special first cousin, David Campbell (Allene) of Pleasanton, Kansas, his best friend, Robert E. Daniels of Warrensburg, Missouri, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Wolfgang ‘Wolf’ A. Hazel, age 68 of Clinton, died at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, on Friday, January 22, 2016. Wolf was born February 8, 1947 in Mannheim, Germany to Alva and Elsa Hazell. After moving to the States with his parents, he graduated from high school and attended one year of college before enlisting in the Navy and serving on ship during the Vietnam War. After his discharge from the Navy, Wolf worked as a businessman, owning and operating many different businesses. The latest of these was State Beauty Supplies in Clinton and a trailer park out off of Hwy. U. Wolf was a member of Duck’s Unlimited. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of the home; a brother, Alva Hazell, Jr. and wife, Pam; a sister, Barbara Bowling and husband, Chester; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Preceding him in death were his parents; and a son, Michael. Memorial services will be at Consalus Funeral Home on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM. A private burial will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Clinton VFW Post #1894 and left in care of Consalus Funeral Home, 209 S. 2nd St., Clinton, MO 64735.

June Maxine (Strickler) Morgan Jelks, daughter of Charles R. and Irene (Harleman) Strickler was born in Taberville, Missouri on June 2, 1937. She departed this life Monday, January 25, 2016 at Truman Lake Manor in Lowry City, Missouri at the age of 78.
June raised five wonderful sons and always enjoyed cooking big dinners for them. She loved canning fruits and vegetables that she bought from the Amish and going to flea markets and auctions.
In her later years, June lived in Rockville and Taberville, Missouri. She was baptized in 1995 at the Rockville Baptist Church in Rockville, Missouri.
June was a nurse and had worked at Appleton City Manor and at a nursing home in El Dorado Springs, El Dorado Springs, Missouri.
June was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Strickler; two grandsons: Brandon Kaut and Shannon White; four sons: Jerry Lynn Murdock, David Wayne Murdock, Troy Lee White and Gordon Charles White, Jr.; three husbands: Ralph Murdock, Gordon White, Sr. and Green Morgan.
June is survived by son, James Douglas Murdock and wife, Kathryn, El Dorado Springs, Missouri; husband, Jay Jelks, Osceola, Missouri; three sisters: Betty Hayes and husband, Jerry, Creighton, Missouri, Bernice Marshall, Taberville, Missouri and Clara Dunham, Sedalia, Missouri; brother, Charles Strickler and wife, Martha, Peoria, Arizona; ten grandchildren, many great- grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and special life-long friends, Sandy and Paul Linton, California.

Lorene Smith

Died: January 26, 2016

Lorene Fay Smith (formerly Clay, Hayes) passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the age of 84. She was born in Oklahoma, the daughter of James D. and Georgia Fay Clay. Relocating to Clinton, MO during World War II, she completed her education and received training and experience in the dry cleaning industry. She eventually received certification in Cosmetology and operated salons for several years.

In 1962 she wed Joseph Hayes, Jr., of Deepwater, MO. Mr. Hayes died in 1993. In 1998 she married John “Jack” Smith and resided for several years in Arroyo Grande, CA, returning to Clinton in 2014 following Mr. Smith’s death.

She is survived by three sisters, four brothers and several nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, a graveside memorial service will held on Saturday, February 5, 2016, 10:30 A.M. at Englewood Cemetery.

Irene was born to Ernest Kampe and Lorena (Goucher) Kampe, January 7, 1933 in Henry County, Missouri. She lived in Independence until 1984, and then moved to the country in Calhoun where she resided until 2006. She later made her home in Versailles, Missouri until her passing. Irene was a member of the First Baptist Church in Versailles. Some of her hobbies included; oil painting, sewing, flower arranging, and going to garage sales, thrift stores, and auctions. Irene loved being spoiled by her late husband and her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her only son, Bobby, two sisters, Laura McMillian, and Evelena Ridgeway, and one brother, Melvin Kampe.

Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Ballard of Liberty, Missouri, three grandchildren, Brandon Beau Ballard, Malcolm McFarland, and Matt Wharton. Four great-grandchildren; Lilyene McFarland, Elizabeth Ballard, Alena McFarland, Robert Wharton, two brothers; Veron (Pat) Kampe of Clinton, Missouri and Chester (Barbara) Kampe of Versailles, Missouri; two sisters Esther ( Ron) Pugh of Versailles, Missouri and Darlene (Joe) Beck of Independence, Missouri, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

THE FUNERAL SERVICE for Mr. Dixon will be held at Hill and Son Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.

MINISTER for the service will be Reverend Ron Beaton.

Clyde Keith “Butch” Dixon, son of Everett Clyde and Myrtle Mae (Gerster) Dixon was born in rural Appleton City, Missouri on November 16, 1932. He passed away on Friday, January 29, 2016 at his home in Appleton City surrounded by his loving family. He was 83.

Keith lived in Appleton City all his life, but he and Royline loved to travel. They have been to 36 states but the Grand Canyon and Royal Gorge in the southwest was his favorite. He also liked the beach in Florida.

Keith was united in marriage on February 9 1952 to Royline Allinson. He was baptized at Trinity United Methodist Church in Appleton City on Easter Sunday in 1973. He was a faithful member and was a Trustee on the Administrative Board of Trinity United Methodist Church. He also served on the Senior Citizen Housing Board for 26 years.

Keith was a mechanic and had worked at Zink Motor Co. in Appleton City for 15 years, Peabody Coal Company in Montrose, Cook’s in Clinton, A. C. Equipment in Appleton City, and K-BLE in Clinton.

Keith enjoyed woodworking and loved making Wahoo boards for his whole family for Christmas. His many wood pieces adorned family homes and many places in town, especially the church.

Keith was an outdoorsman and loved fishing for trout and crappie, hunting deer, camping with Royline at Roaring River and walking around town. He never missed a game that his kids or grandkids were in. He loved playing with his grandkids.

Keith and Royline enjoyed square dancing and attended the Invitational at Silver Dollar City and Missouri State Fair.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, J. F. Dixon and Floyd Crist; sisters: Dorothy Evans, Mildred Monte and Gladys Williams.

Keith is survived by his wife, Royline; children: Robert Dixon and wife, Karen, Randy Dixon and wife Kathy, Pamela Dixon Elsmore and husband, Patrick and Marcia Dixon Raines and husband, Ron; grandchildren: Shasta Hetherington, Devin Dixon, Cody Dixon, Courtney Dixon, Colby Bourland, Katie Koshko, Colton Bourland, Kristin Kruczyk, Justin Elsmore, Tony Elsmore, Jamison Elsmore, Hannah Raines and Hailey Raines; great-grandchildren: Tara Radford, Megan Radford, Owen Hetherington, Wyatt Dixon, Tyler Stutesman, Trapper McCollum, Jadrien Kruczyk, Madelyn Kruczyk, Bradley Elsmore, Hattie Elsmore, Declan Elsmore, Roman Lee Elsmore, Taylor Harper, Kenzie Harper and Derrik Elmer; sisters: Mary Smith, Bernice Thomas, Romyna Myers.

Keith will be greatly missed by his family and many friends, especially around Halloween. Being a bit of a prankster, many door knobs were covered with molasses.

Earl “Dean” Smith

Earl Dean Smith, son of Earl and Vena (Clark) Smith, was born in Nevada, Missouri May 18, 1940. He departed this life in Clinton, Missouri January 31, 2016 at 75 years of age.

Dean served in the Army from Sept. 15, 1956 through 1961 before being honorably discharged. He returned to the central Missouri area where he farmed and did custom welding.

He is survived by several relatives including niece Anne Rotert of Urich, Missouri.

Florence A. Talley, 89, of Clinton, Missouri died Saturday evening, January 30, 2016 at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton.

She was born on April 21, 1926 in Montrose, Mo., the daughter of Henry Boden and Louise Caroline (Firsick) Boden.

She married Earl Edward Talley in July of 1951, and he preceded her in death on February 22, 1982. Together they owned and operated Talley Construction and Plumbing for many years. In addition to helping Earl with the business she also was a homemaker.

Florence was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Clinton. She enjoyed working in her yard, gardening, fishing, and was affectionately known as the “neighborhood watch”. Florence especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons, Jim Talley and wife Theresa, Clinton, Mo., and Danny Talley and wife Verlinda, Clinton, Mo.; one daughter, Patty Moore and husband Kurtis, Clinton, Mo.; four grandchildren, Melissa Goodloe, Lindsey Marie Talley, John Moore, and Ashley Glover; three great-grandchildren, Maddison Goodloe, Carson Goodloe, and Colton Moore; two brothers, LeRoy Boden, Clinton, Mo., and Harold Boden and wife Elaine, Montrose, Mo.; three sisters, Eleanor Seaton, Clinton, Mo., Rose Story, Kansas City, Mo., and Esther Douglas and husband Dean, Kansas City, Mo.; sister-in-law, Rosie Boden, Appleton City, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John Boden and Henry Boden; and three sisters, Katherine Wagner, Mary Putthoff, and Clara Mae Greufe.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 610 South 4th Street, Clinton, Mo. Monsignor Bradley Offutt will officiate. Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation, and these donations may be left in care of the funeral home.
