Betty L Doll
( July 29, 1935 – November 15, 2017 )
Betty attended Enterprise Grade School and graduated from Urich High School in 1953 as salutatorian. In school she especially enjoyed playing basketball, chorus and band.
Betty married Bob Wheeler in December 1954 and to this union two daughters LeeAnn and Gale Lynn were born.
Betty worked in early years at Wright Manufacturing as a seamstress and Urich Elementary School as a cook. In 1971 she became employed at June Orr Interiors where she produced and installed custom-made draperies until her retirement in 1997.
Betty was an active member of the First Christian Church of Urich teaching several Sunday School and Bible School classes. It was a great disappointment when her health declined and she was unable to attend services.
In August 1984 Betty married Derrold Doll and moved to the farm south of Urich. There she enjoyed gardening, especially her roses and iris, canning, and cooking. Most people around town at one time or another enjoyed her baked goods. The happiest time in her life was spent with Derrold until his death in 1998.
Others preceding her in death are her parents and brother Benny Young.
Surviving Betty are daughters LeeAnn (Potter) and Lynn Wheeler; step-daughters Kathy Wheeler, Connie Thomas (Vernon) and Carla Doll; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson; brother Melvin Young (Vonna), sisters Maude Ann Maynard and Elaine Turner (Eddie). Also surviving are many nieces, nephew, cousins and many other friends and relatives.
Funeral Services will be held at First Christian Church of Urich on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 2 pm with visitation being one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Mullins Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to Twin Lakes Hospice or First Christian Church of Urich and may be left in care of the Funeral Home.
