Peggy Sue Mountain, of Windsor, Missouri, died unexpectedly Monday, January 11, 2016, at her home in Windsor.
She was born March 10, 1960, in Roswell, New Mexico, the daughter of David Lee Mountain Sr. and Nancy Sue (Burgess) Mountain.
Peggy traveled the world as the daughter of an Air Force Sargent. After her father’s retirement Peggy attended high school in Cheyenne, Wyoming and had worked as a bartender and waitress. She spent some time in the U S Army in the early 1980’s. After moving to Missouri in 1996, she worked as a manager at Casey’s in Warrensburg for a time. She then went back to school and finished her degree in Criminal Justice at University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg. She was a member of the Windsor American Legion and the American Legion Riders. She attended the Windsor United Methodist Church and had helped with food distribution for the Samaritan Center and Harvesters.
Survivors include her son Harley Mountain and his wife Cassandra McLeod, Clinton, Mo.; a grandson, Rowan McLeod, Clinton, Mo.; her mother, Nancy Mountain, Windsor, Mo.; 2 sisters, Helen Greer and her husband, John, Kingsville, Mo.; and Treasure Yoder, Clinton, Mo.; a brother, Clay Mountain, Cheyenne, Wyoming; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins. She was preceded in death by her father David Mountain, Sr. and her brother, David Mountain, Jr. on August 13, 2015.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2016, at the Windsor United Methodist Church with Reverend Pete Hill officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. The family suggests contributions to American Legion Freedom Riders in care of the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor.
