Louis Virgil Raveill, 84, of Windsor, Missouri, died Friday, January 15, 2016, at St. Luke’s Hospice House, Kansas City, Mo.
He was born February 19, 1931, in Chatfield, Minnesota, the son of Robert Wesley Raveill & Hazel Ruth Baker Raveill. In 1959, he married Elizabeth Ann Farley in Chatfield. Starting their lives together, they added 3 daughters and a son.
Louis worked at Jennings Junk Yard in Rochester, Mn. until his Life’s Journey changed and he relocated to Lee’s Summit, Mo. He worked at the Old Mill in Lee’s Summit until changing jobs and going to R.B. Rice, where he worked until he retired. He then moved to the Clinton, Mo. area, were he met the New Love of his Life, Wanda McCanless.
Louis loved people and he loved to visit and make new friends. He found joy in helping others. His passion in life was fishing and he would spend numerous hours on a river bank or out in his boat searching for that perfect spot where he knew the big catfish would be. His hobbies included working on his car, spending time with his family, and enjoying a good game of Bingo or Dominos. He became a member of the Windsor United Methodist Church on March 29, 2015, where he found a new family and God’s wonderful Grace.
Survivors include 5 daughters, Connie Portalatin and her husband Richard, Enville, Tn.; Debbie Leveque and her husband Daryl, Beach Park, Illinois; Rose Raveill and her fiancée Travis Wright, Odessa, Mo.; Lesa Barb and her husband David, Independence, Mo.; and Theresa Martin and her husband Corbett, Leeton, Mo.; 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Louis Junior Raveill; 3 brothers, Sylis Raveill, Edward Raveill, and an infant brother, Georgie Raveill; 4 sisters, Catherine Ester Hanson, Carolyn Vansandt, Violet Smith, and an infant sister, Hazel Eleanor Raveill.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2016, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. Burial will be in Mineral Creek Cemetery, Leeton, Mo., with Rev Pete Hill officiating. The family will receive friends before the service on Saturday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Luke’s Hospice House in care of the funeral home.
