Richard L. Borum 84 of Pleasant Hill, Missouri formerly of Independence, Missouri departed this life on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Pleasant Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

He is survived by his three sons, Michael Borum and wife Marilyn, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Anthony Borum and wife Vera, Parker, Kansas, Joseph Borum and wife Susan, Kansas City, Missouri; two daughters, Bee Borum, Belton, Missouri, Cindy Davis and husband Gene, Sibley, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dee Borum, Creighton, Missouri, Kelly Borum, Urich, Missouri; four sisters, Susie M. Romine, Salina, Kansas, Eula F. Bullard, Independence, Missouri, Joyce Hearting, Linn, Missouri, Sharon Firsick, Raytown, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.

Frederick Blackburn Kimball died at Westwood Nursing Home on November 8, 2015. He was born to Fred Sr. and Jessie Wilson Kimball on August 4, 1922 in Clinton, MO. Fred was a graduate of Clinton High School. He served in the US Marine Corp during World War II and was stationed for eighteen months in Kodiak, Alaska before attending the Marine Corps Jump School. He spent the rest of the war in the South Pacific moving from island to island with his fellow Marines clearing away resistance. He returned to Clinton after being honorably discharge.

He worked as a life guard at the old city pool in Artesian Park during the summers. In 1950 Fred moved to Santa Monica, California. He became a body builder and went to school to become a masseur and worked at the Golden Door Health Spa. While working there he met several professional athletes and movie stars.

During his days as a body builder, many magazines often came to Muscle Beach looking to shoot advertisement photos. Fred’s picture has appeared in a number of those including “The Saturday Evening Post” (May, 1957) and “Playboy” (January, 1968). He was an ‘extra’ on the beach in the movie “Muscle Beach Party” staring Frankie Avalon/Annette Funichello.

After retiring from the spa, he moved back to Clinton and cared for his mother until she passed. Fred was a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church, Clinton.

He will be missed by his family and many friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice and left in care of Consalus Funeral Home, 209 S. 2nd, Clinton, MO 64735.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, November 13, 2015 from 10 – 11 AM at Consalus Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM at Englewood Cemetery, Clinton.

Teresa was born Feb. 9th 1947 in Santa Maria, California the daughter of Bill and Ruth (Reitchi)Stokes. She worked as an apartment manager. Teresa was married to her loving husband Ronald Van Campbell 45 years and 9 months.

Among survivors is her husband Ron of the home, along with 2 daughters Tiffany Alcorn and Valerie Ventosa, 4 grandkids and 2 great grandkids. She passed away the same day that her great granddaughter was born.

Bradford R. Sisson, age 56 of Belton, MO died on November 12, 2015. He was born on September 2, 1959 in Spokane, Washington, the son of Thomas Oren and Patricia ‘Crider’ Sisson. On July 25, 1992, he was united in marriage to Tricia (Kirkpatrick) Sisson who survives of the home.

Brad owned and operated “Sisson Sharpening” in Belton.

In addition to his wife, Brad is survived by his children, Sam (Betsy) Barnett, Merriam, KS, Dottie (Jesse) McDonald, Cleveland, TX, Shawn Sisson, Kansas City, MO, Shane (Danae) Sisson, Grandview, MO and Chalon (Nicole) Barnett, Axtell, KS; his sister Sherry (Kirk) Hillhouse, Spokane, WA; 14 Grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Brad was preceded in death by his parents.

Brad’s wishes were to be cremated with memorial services planned for a later date.

Gary W. Atchison, 69, Clinton, MO, died at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, MO on November 18, 2015. Gary was born on March 15, 1946 in Clinton, MO, to Samuel & Margaret ‘Smallwood’ Atchison. Gary is survived by his daughters, Cindy (Blaik) Wirsig, Angie (Brian) Wishard and Christa Atchison; grandchildren, Grantt, Gentry, Jake & Briley; former wife and friend, Mary Atchison; his sister, Treva (Gary) Jones; nieces, nephews and many friends. Gary worked for KCP&L as a mechanic. Gary proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Marksman (Rifle M14) He was a member of IBEW #412, CHS Alumni Association and was named by the Jaycee’s as Outstanding Young Man in 1979. Gary was a dedicated blood donor, donating over 20 gallons to the American Red Cross. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Consalus Funeral Home, Clinton, MO. Private Graveside services at Englewood Cemetery. THE SERVICE for Louise will be held at Hill and Son Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 1:00 p.m.

Louise S. Gregg, 96, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Anton Fick on the family farm in Germantown, Missouri May 16, 1919. She passed away November 21, 2015 at Countryside Estates residential care facility in Appleton City, Missouri.
Louise lived in the Germantown and Appleton City area all of her life except a few years during the depression. After her marriage to Ralph M. Gregg October 10, 1937 they moved to California where he worked in the logging industry. They were blessed with two sons. Upon their return to Missouri in 1941 they acquired land south-east of Appleton City where they farmed and raised cattle until retiring in 1988. Ralph died in 1996 and Louise remained on their farm, her home of 74 years, until late December of 2014 when she moved to the residential care facility in Appleton City. She told her family she wished to celebrate one more Thanksgiving and Christmas at the family farm before moving to town.
Through the years Louise had attended Spring Grove Church and later the Church of God (Holiness) in Appleton City. She was a member of the Red Hat Club loving to socialize with the ladies in her bright red hat and purple attire. Her favorite pass time was quilting. She had made over 100 beautiful quilts in her life-time, sharing them with family and friends. She was a member of the Rockville Quilting Group and also quilted with the Ohio Christian Church ladies group. She and Ralph hosted many card parties in their home, loving the time spent with friends playing Pitch. Her family will attest to the fact that she was undeniably the best pie baker and chicken fryer ever. Louise also had a great love for fast cars, still owning a bright red Mustang. Louise had a great joy of spirit and loved family, friends and life. She will be greatly missed.
Preceding Louise in death were her parents; her husband; one son Billy J. Gregg; one granddaughter Rhonda (Gregg) Wolf; and her eight siblings: Leonard, Raymond, Richard, Estel, George, Laura, Gertrude and Helen.
Survivors include: two sons, Donald Gregg (Barbara) and Ronald Gregg (Lisa); three grandchildren, Heath Gregg (Debbie), Kirsten Gregg and Erich Gregg; and eight great-grandchildren: Bradley and Daniel Wolf, Hannah and Hayden Gregg, Kelsey and Gregg Puttkammer, Samantha and Erica Gregg.

Marsha A. Graef, 61, retired Assistant Athletic Director at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, passed away Monday evening, November 16, after a nearly 3-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Boy, did she make the best use of that time! A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, November 28, 2015 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton, Missouri. Marsha was born April 29, 1954, in Clinton, Missouri, the daughter of Ervin “Corky” and Irene (Korth) Graef. She grew up in Urich, Missouri, attending Urich Elementary School and graduating from Sherwood High School. She graduated from Central Missouri State University in 1976 where she was a four-year varsity starter for the women’s basketball team and played field hockey and softball as well. She earned a master’s degree from Northern Arizona University and taught and coached at Archie and Fort Osage schools in Missouri.

Marsha went to Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, in the fall of 1985 as the head coach of Bates women’s volleyball and basketball teams, and assistant coach in women’s lacrosse. Marsha coached volleyball at Bates for 14 years and was recognized as one of a handful of Division Three volleyball coaches to have earned over 400 wins in her career, with an overall record of 416-144. Under her leadership, the Bobcats tallied 51 straight wins and marked the first victory by a NESCAC School in the NCAA Division III national tournament, making it to the “Sweet 16” round. Marsha’s teams also won two ECAC Championships, one runner-up finish, and three NESCAC Conference Championships. Marsha was honored by her peers with three New England Women’s Volleyball Association Coach of the Year awards and one AVCA National Coach of the Year Award. In 1998, Marsha moved from coaching into the administrative position of coordinator of physical education and club sports. She is also a certified strength coach and was instrumental in the design and implementation of the Davis Fitness Center.

Marsha was preceded in death by her father, her 3 uncles and their wives, and 3 cousins.

She is survived by her mother, Irene Graef of St. Louis, her brother Stephen and his significant other David Lawrence also of St. Louis, her closest friend and caregiver, Paula Linder, and her adopted Maine family, Mona, Mike, Charlotte, Pam, Clinton, Kim, Chris, Haley, Julia, Becky, Ross, Connor, Curt and Chance.

Kimberly A. Smith died unexpectedly at her home on Friday, November 20th, 2015 in Urich, Missouri. Kim is survived by her husband, Brandon, her parents Larry and Jean Johnson, one sister Amy (Joey) Kern, and 5 nieces and nephews, Cody Bratcher, Ellie & Evie Sansom, Thomas Nichols, and Walker & Chloe Motley. Kim also had three specials girls that were a part of her everyday life, her “non-biological daughters” Sydni, Alexx and Mackenzie Roofner. Kim was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, John and Loraine Johnson and maternal grandparents, Cliff and Marge Lowery.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri. Cremation.

Johnny W. Hestand, age 58, of Clinton, MO died at his home on November 23, 2015, after a long illness. Johnny was born on December 1, 1956 to Clifford & Lena Hestand in Deepwater, MO. Johnny graduated from Lakeland High School in 1975. He worked for Rival Manufacturing in Clinton for many years and many years for Bill’s Cleaning Service in Clinton. He served in the National Guard for 14 years. Johnny was a good Christian man with a strong Baptist faith. His friends knew him as Johnny the Joker. He was always ready to help others before his illness. Johnny never knew a stranger. He is survived by his wife, Debbie L. Hestand of the home; one daughter, Starla Cox and her children of Kansas; three step-children, Bonnie Joe McClymond of Ohio, Sherry McCurley (James) and their children and grandchildren of Clinton and Jeremiah McClymond and his children of Clinton; two brothers, James Hestand and family of Deepwater, MO and Ricky Hestand and family of Kansas City, MO; one sister, Pearl Reimer and family of Kansas City, MO; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers; and two sisters. A ‘Celebration of Life’ will be held at 2:00 p.m., this Friday, November 27, 2015 at Clinton Manor, 1717 Gaines Dr., Clinton, MO. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Johnny Hestand Memorial Fund, to help with the cost of the service. She was born March 10, 1935 on a farm south of Urich, Missouri. She was the youngest child and only daughter of Uel Elmer Long and Mary Angeline (Hull) Long. She attended Willow Branch grade school and was a 1953 graduate of Clinton High School, Clinton, Missouri. She attended night school and graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree from Junior College, Kansas City, Missouri in 1961. She also graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Degree from Rockhurst College, Kansas City, Missouri in 1976 also attending night school. During this time, she was employed with American Telephone and Telegraph Co. and was an Engineering Associate at the time of her retirement in 1987 with 32 years of service. She was a member of the U.S. Naval Reserve with 20 years of service and retired as a Yeoman First Class in 1985. She earned the Naval Meritorious Awards and Armed Forced Awards. She was a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church of Raymore, Missouri and the Kindred Spirits. She was a member of the National Society of Daughters of American Revolution and the Mary Sibley Chapter (DAR), also the Veteran’s Club of the DAR. She was a member of the WAVES National and Heart of America Unit #9 of Kansas City. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and Communications Workers of America. She was a member of the Heritage Society of Rockhurst University.
Her hobbies were genealogy, music, reading and attending her flowers and pets. She traveled extensively both seeking genealogy and researching her ancestors and recording it to be preserved for future generations. She also enjoyed traveling abroad and made many trips to Europe and Canada, taking pictures and seeking historical sites. She was blessed with her pet dogs and enjoyed the companionship of her beloved pets, Muffi, Peppi, Laddi, and Blacki. Growing up on a farm instilled her love of animals.
She leaves 2 brothers, Robert Gene Long, Clinton, Missouri and Kenneth Dale Long, Springfield, Missouri, 2 nieces, Kathy Sue Himes, Clinton, Missouri and Linda Ann Wallace, St. Charles, Missouri, 1 nephew Kenneth Lee Long, Lafayette, Louisiana, also 2 great nieces and 4 great nephews, 2 great great nephews and 1 great great niece.
