The MINISTER will be Pastor Gar Garman.

INTERMENT will be in Round Prairie Baptist Cemetery, rural Appleton City, Missouri.

The family suggests MEMORIAL donations be made to Round Prairie Baptist Cemetery.

Wilma Marie (Nichols) Brown, 85, entered into eternal life peacefully August 23, 2015 at the Appleton City Manor Nursing Home. Marie was united in marriage to LV “Junior” Brown on June 12, 1947 at the Baptist parsonage in Appleton City, Missouri, and to this union four children were born: Carolyn, Wayne, Steve, and Donald.

Early in life Marie began her education in rural St. Clair County, then attended Rockville High School. Always a devoted wife and mother, she worked many long hours beside her husband on their farm and still found time to provide tender care for her children. It was widely known that if she was not the greatest cook in Bates County, she was certainly among the best. Marie would regularly display her culinary talents at large family gatherings, where her egg noodles were always the most popular dish. Furthermore, Ellett Memorial Hospital employed Marie as a cook for many years, where the weak and sick benefited from the quality of the food she made. Along with such culinary skills Marie proved a highly talented seamstress, who could mend, patch, or even make almost any piece of clothing.

Apart from cooking and sewing, Marie loved to play, and taught her family to play, many card games and marbles, which she won many times. Her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren were the light of Marie’s life. She spent the majority of her golden years devoted to their care and upbringing. Finally, all of her life Marie remained a dutiful Christian and member of Round Prairie Baptist Church, where she reveled in the old hymns and the preaching of God’s word.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Bertha (Barker) Nichols; husband LV “Junior” Brown; sister Doris Ann Nichols; granddaughter Cheyanna Koshko and son-in-law Bob Hellwig. She is survived by her children: Carolyn Hellwig, Wayne Brown (Nancy G.), Steve Brown (Brenda) and Donald Brown (Nancy J.); grandchildren: Jeremy Brown (Tracy), Heidi Braning (Tom), Kaleb Hellwig (Jody), Crystal Dennis (Bobby), Cody Brown (Amanda), Candace Patton (John), Benjamin Brown and Rachel Brown; great-grandchildren: Judd and Reegan Koshko, Kinley and Kie Hellwig, Izabella and Emelia Dennis, Jackson Braning, Owen Brown, and Kennedy Patton; siblings: Glenn D. Nichols, Wilbur Nichols (Barbara), Delores Bracher, Ellen Higgins (Kent), Beulah Conner, .Eugene Nichols (Nancy), Geraldine Brownsberger (Bill) and Connie Mott.
